Understanding Your Results

What Does Your BMI Mean?

BMI (Body Mass Index) measures your weight relative to your height. The WHO classifies results as:

  1. Under 18.5 — Underweight
  2. 18.5–24.9 — Normal/Healthy weight
  3. 25.0–29.9 — Overweight
  4. 30 and above — Obese

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Factors like muscle mass, age, and ethnicity can affect its accuracy.

How Are Your Daily Calories Calculated?

The calculator uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation — the formula most recommended by dietitians and used by apps like MyFitnessPal. It first finds your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR, calories your body burns at complete rest), then multiplies it by your activity level to get your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure). Your goal (lose/maintain/gain) adjusts the final target by ±500 kcal.

How Is Body Fat Percentage Estimated?

This tool uses the US Navy circumference method, which requires waist, neck, and hip (females only) measurements. It’s a practical at-home estimate, typically accurate within ±3–4%. For medical-grade accuracy, a DEXA scan is the gold standard.

Why Use a Combined Health Calculator?

Most calculator tools make you visit a separate page for BMI, another for calories, another for water intake. The problem: you re-enter your weight and height every time, and there’s no connection between results.

This suite solves that. One set of inputs, six calculators, zero friction. It’s especially useful when you’re starting a fitness plan and want a full picture — your healthy weight range, your calorie target, your water goal, and your body fat category — all at once.

Formulas & Methodology

Transparency matters when it comes to health data. Here’s what powers each calculator:

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this health calculator free?

Yes, completely free — no sign-up, no account, no ads interrupting your results.

How accurate is the BMI calculator?

BMI accuracy is well-established for population-level screening, but individual results can be affected by high muscle mass, age, or ethnicity. It's a useful starting point, not a medical diagnosis.

Do I need to enter my details on every calculator?

No. Weight and height are shared across all tabs. Once you fill them in on any calculator, they carry over automatically.

What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?

BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the calories your body burns at complete rest just to stay alive. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is BMR multiplied by your activity level — it's the real number of calories you burn in a day.

How much water should I drink per day?

A common starting point is 2–3 litres depending on body weight, but the right amount depends on your activity level, climate, and health. This calculator factors in all three for a personalised estimate.

How is body fat percentage calculated without equipment?

The US Navy method uses waist, neck, and hip measurements along with height to estimate body fat. It's reasonably accurate (±3–4%) and requires only a tape measure.

What is an ideal weight?

Ideal weight is an estimate of a healthy target weight for your height and gender, based on medical formulas. This tool averages three established formulas (Hamwi, Devine, Miller) for a balanced result.

Can I use this calculator on my phone?

Yes. The tool is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, and desktops.
